TB Wood's Incorporated

Founded in 1857, TB Wood’s, Inc. began as a foundry and machine shop, until the turn of the century when they entered into the power transmission industry. They began with the introduction of flat belted drives and line shafting, and then introduced V-belt drive systems in the 1930s. By 1945, TB Wood's introduced the quick detachable ("QD") Bushing system, which was followed by variable speed pulleys and synchronous timing belt drive systems in the early 1950s. In 1957, Wood’s developed and patented its Sure-Flex® couplings, capturing a significant segment of the elastomeric coupling market.

In December 2007, TB Wood's signed a definitive agreement to sell it's electronic business to Vacon, a global supplier of adjustable speed drives.

Mechanical Business Products

Wood’s Mechanical Business offers several key product lines produced in Wood’s foundry and machining operations: Couplings, machined castings and Made-To-Order (MTO) sheaves, and belted drives. Our coupling line includes Sure-Flex® Elastomeric couplings, Dura-Flex® Elastomeric couplings, Form-Flex® Disc couplings, Jaw couplings, Gear couplings and our newest addition, G-Flex® couplings. TB Wood’s manufactures sheaves and Synchronous sprockets in Cast or Ductile Iron, in various stock sizes, as well as MTO. We provide our sheaves and sprockets with a bushed or bored hub and can provide a varied range of bushings and belts for a complete belted drive package.
