Kilian Precision Bearing Assemblies for Blood Centrifuges

Blood Centrifuges

A major laboratory equipment manufacturer needed an economical bearing solution to replace existing yoke-type roller bearings on their blood centrifuges, where tubes of collected blood are loaded into a swing bucket that spins for 10 minutes at 3500 RPM. The rapid spinning separates the blood into plasma, white cells with platelets, and red cells for further testing. Four bearings are positioned around the base of the swing bucket to allow smooth rotation.

Kilian engineers developed a custom cam follower with a double row ball bearing to meet the OEM requirements. The new cost-effective bearing assembly features an attached mounting stud for easy installation. Bearings are completely sealed to prevent any ingress or egress contamination.
