One of the world’s two largest manufacturers of medical swabs required extremely reliable wrap spring clutch/brakes delivered fast for 40 new machines. The machines were needed in response to the rapid growth in demand for specialized swabs used in Covid-19 test kits. Funded by the Defense Protection Act, the OEM, located in Maine, partnered with two other major companies to retrofit and equip a factory within weeks to meet the national coronavirus test swab shortage.
The wrap spring clutch/brakes were needed to provide indexing functionality as the swabs move through the machines. The OEM contacted his local Motion Industries branch for help to meet a two week delivery timeline. The Motion sales associate quickly called Warner Electric based on a history of exceptional product and delivery performance with the OEM.
When the initial partial order came into Warner’s plant in New Hartford, Connecticut, it was determined that Warner could meet the two-week delivery schedule. However, upon further review, the plant was able to prioritize and expedite the time-sensitive wrap spring order. The dedicated Warner production team immediately went to work to complete the necessary component machining and product assembly allowing the factory to ship the full number of units in two days.
The Warner Electric Super CB Series is a high performance version of the standard CB Series, providing up to five times the life. The SCB Series is ideal for applications requiring maximum torque, high cycle rates and minimum maintenance. Super CB Series units are shipped as a complete, factory-assembled package, ready for installation. The CB-6 Models supplied feature 500 RPM max. operating speed and a 500 in.lb. torque rating.
